Travel Kyoto
For this project I redesigned the City of Kyoto’s brand through a multichannel campaign. Japanese minimalism and a philosophy of duality- as demonstrated in the convergence of old and new, masculine and feminine, or yin and yang- play an influence in the redesigning of this brand. Images and video display rich culture, lush landscapes and traditions all integrated into a clean modern design. The softer pastel color palette brings a feminine balance, while the sans-serif and layout bring in the masculine. The layout specifically correlates to the ancient grid system that laid the foundation for Kyoto. Lastly, the logo merges the Japanese flag- also a representation of a rising sun -with one of Kyoto’s iconic traditional temples.
