Dante’s Inferno

To interpret the nine layers described through the story of Dante’s Inferno I created a concept of showing the nine layers through the descriptions given in the book. I sifted through the story finding the main concept of each layer and cut strips of the book and glued them in a circular pattern forming “The Inferno”. Having done a lot of stippling in my illustrative work, creating detailed and repetitive patterns is an artform that I am familiar with and passionate about. For this book cover Dante’s descent into madness is expressed through the tedious nature of crafting such an intricate cover.
